Guwahati, 26 September (HS): A young woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a homestay in the Garchuk area of Guwahati, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.

According to police, the woman’s body was recovered from Rudriyas Kitchen Homestay in the Garchuk area on Saturday. She had reportedly left home with a friend on Friday night. During the night, she allegedly called her mother and told her that she had been assaulted. The woman’s mobile phone was switched off shortly after the call.

It has also been reported that the woman had cried for help outside the homestay during the night. Police have arrested her friend in connection with the incident. The homestay had reportedly been booked in the name of Ashish Ali.

The deceased was reportedly a resident of Dharapur. Police took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.------------
