Guwahati, 26 September (HS): Sonapur Police in Guwahati have arrested two alleged smugglers in connection with the trafficking of wildlife body parts.

Police said on Saturday that acting on a tip-off, Sonapur Police launched a secret operation against a suspected wildlife parts smuggling network. During the operation, two alleged smugglers were apprehended from Medhikuchi in Sonapur.

Six urine glands of musk deer were reportedly recovered from their possession. The arrested persons have been identified as Moge Daye and Nakphua Wangcha, both from Arunachal Pradesh.

Police suspect that the accused were attempting to smuggle the wildlife parts to foreign countries. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, and further investigation is underway. Police are also questioning the two arrested persons to ascertain the network involved in the alleged illegal trade.------------
