Imphal, 26 September (HS): Two alleged active members of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) were arrested by teams of the Special CDO Unit in Imphal East district, police said today.

According to police, an active NRFM member, identified as Laishram Suresh alias L. Tomba Singh (27), son of Laishram Pamchouba Singh of Koirengei Mamang Leikai, Achanbigei, was arrested from his locality on September 25.

Based on his disclosure, the security personnel recovered ₹30,500 allegedly collected as extortion money, an iPhone and five NRFM demand letters. A black Royal Enfield motorcycle bearing registration number MN06 SA-6260, which police said had been purchased with extorted money, was also seized.

Police said that during further questioning, Suresh disclosed the involvement of his associate, Nongdrenkhomba Loitongbam (21), son of Loitongbam Lukhoi Singh of Keikol Mayai Leikai. Loitongbam, who allegedly undertook various activities for the NRFM, was subsequently arrested from his residence.

Further investigation into the activities and network of the two arrested persons is underway, police said.-----------
