New Delhi, 26 September (H.S.): India jointly occupied 10th place with Hong Kong in the medal standings at the 2026 Asian Games on Saturday. At the time of filing this report, India had won a total of 28 medals, comprising four gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze medals. China led the standings with 171 medals, including 105 golds, while Japan were second with 124 medals, including 31 golds, and South Korea were third with 71 medals, including 14 golds.

India strengthened its position in the medal table on Saturday by winning gold medals in both the men’s and women’s kabaddi events. The men’s team defeated Iran 40-34 to claim the gold, while the women’s team also defeated Iran 37-34 to retain the title. These were India’s third and fourth gold medals of the Games.

In athletics, Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in the men’s marathon. He achieved the feat with a new national record of 2 hours, 11 minutes and 37 seconds. In the women’s 50m rifle three positions team event, Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K. Vinod and Ashi Chouksey also secured a silver medal.

In mixed doubles squash, Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar won the bronze medal. The Indian pair had to settle for bronze after losing in the semi-finals.
