Mumbai, 26 September (H.S.): Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer The Vvaan has made its presence felt at the box office following its release. The film earned around Rs 8 crore on its opening day.

According to Sacnilk figures, The Vvaan recorded a stronger opening than nearly 33 recently released films, including Akshay Kumar’s Haiwaan, Sunny Deol’s Bantaara 1947, Vibe and Daayra. Although the film has received mixed responses from audiences and critics, its initial box-office performance has raised expectations among the makers.

In The Vvaan, Sidharth Malhotra plays Rishi, while Tamannaah Bhatia portrays his wife, Mamta. The story revolves around Rishi, who returns with his wife to his ancestral village in Bihar to sell his inherited property. The film also features Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, Anup Soni and Maniesh Paul in important roles. It has been directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, while Ektaa R Kapoor is the producer.

Meanwhile, Nani’s The Paradise has also maintained a strong presence at the box office. The film collected Rs 14.90 crore net in India on its second day, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 61.15 crore. However, its second-day earnings were lower than those recorded on the opening day. The Paradise registered an impressive opening-day India net collection of Rs 34.65 crore.

Following The Vvaan’s strong opening, the box-office contest between the two films has become an interesting one.
