Amravati, 26 Sept (HS): The Maharashtra Medical

Council (MMC) has made the 'Know Your Doctor' (KYD) QR code plate mandatory for

all registered doctors in the state. Doctors are required to have this plate in

their clinic, hospital, or practice center by October 31, 2026. The rules were

announced to curb practicing medicine by bogus doctors or any other kind of

frauds.

Only the original and digitally signed plate

obtained from the official system of MMC will be accepted. It has been

clarified that a screenshot or a simple printout of the QR code will not be

accepted. After the patient or their relatives scan the QR code on the plate,

the name of the doctor concerned, educational qualification, MMC registration

number, duration of registration, and official information related to the

practice will be available. This will make it easier for patients to check the

validity of the doctor.

Punitive as well as disciplinary action can be taken

by the MMC against the doctors who do not apply for the plate within the

stipulated time. In the first phase, there is a provision for a fine of up to

Rs 15,000. The move is expected to curb such practices in the district where

there are complaints of bogus doctors running the medical business in urban as

well as rural areas. All registered doctors are required to generate their

'Know Your Doctor' QR code plate from MMC's portal and affix it on the facade

of their clinic or hospital, which is mandatory to have the plate installed by

October 31.
