Guwahati, 26 September (HS): Assam Cabinet Minister Piyush Hazarika on Saturday campaigned for NDA candidate Devashish Sharma in Dhing and Lahorighat constituencies, addressing three election meetings at Shani Char in Dhing and Chitalmari Char under Lahorighat.

Addressing the gatherings, Hazarika urged voters to support the NDA and join what he described as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's development initiatives. He alleged that previous political leadership had deprived residents of the chars of educational and land rights and said schools and medical facilities would be developed in the areas.

Hazarika claimed that the large turnout at the meetings indicated strong support for Sharma and asserted that the NDA candidate would win the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll by a substantial margin. He also said the Congress would finish in third place.

Meanwhile, Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) president and Cabinet Minister Atul Bora and the party's working president and Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta addressed an election meeting at Bebejia Rang Mancha in Raha constituency. They also participated in several campaign meetings in Samaguri and inaugurated the election office of the Garjan Mandal.

Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Deuri inaugurated the BJP's Morigaon Town Mandal election campaign office, while Biswanath MLA Pallab Lochan Das attended Shaktikendra and booth-level meetings under the Dandua-Bhurbandha and Kapili-Dolonghat mandals.

The BJP's youth and women workers also intensified door-to-door campaigning across the assembly segments of Nagaon-Batadroba, Raha, Samaguri, Rupohihat and Dhing. The BJP Yuva Morcha organised 37 courtyard and community meetings across these constituencies.

The Other Backward Classes (OBC) Morcha organised 54 courtyard meetings across 14 mandals in Nagaon district, involving mandal presidents, booth-level in-charges and district and state-level functionaries.

NDA candidate Devashish Sharma held around 20 meetings and interacted with voters at different locations in the Nagaon-Batadroba constituency during the day. The BJP Mahila Morcha also conducted courtyard meetings at several booths under the Samaguri mandal as part of the campaign.------------
