Dhubri (Assam), 26 September (HS): A woman was allegedly killed by her husband in the Sowari area under Chapar police station in Assam’s Dhubri district, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the incident occurred late Friday night at Nijpatty in Chapar Sowari when the accused, identified as Tulsi Oraon, allegedly got into an argument with his wife while under the influence of alcohol. During the altercation, he allegedly attacked her with an axe, resulting in her death.

Following the incident, Oraon allegedly fled the spot and remains absconding. Police reached the scene after receiving information and recovered the woman’s body, which was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and police have launched a search for the absconding accused.-----------
