Bhubaneswar, 26 September (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has welcomed the designation of Paradip Port as a ‘Mega Port’ under the Indian Ports Act, 2025, describing it as a landmark recognition of Odisha’s growing role in India’s maritime economy.

In a social media post, Majhi said Paradip Port has become the only Mega Port on India’s eastern coast, reaffirming its strategic importance as a major gateway for trade, industry and connectivity.

The Chief Minister said the recognition reflects Paradip Port’s expanding capacity, robust infrastructure and operational strength. He added that the status would further strengthen Odisha’s potential to attract investment, enhance logistics and create new opportunities for the people of the state.

Majhi said Paradip Port would play an increasingly important role as Odisha moves towards becoming a leading hub for trade, industry and maritime growth. He added that the port would contribute to the state’s economic transformation as well as the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal for the recognition accorded to Paradip Port.

Majhi described the development as a proud moment for the people of Odisha and a new milestone in the state’s journey of progress.
