Gadchiroli,

26 Sept (HS): Bhamragad tehsil on Gadchiroli district is flooded due to heavy

ra=ins in adjoining Chhattisgarh. Pearlkota and Idrawati Rivers are

overflowing. More than 526 people in Bhamragad had to be shifted to safer

places from Friday afternoon.

About 100

flooded villages have been isolated due to the flood. The bridge on Pearlkota is

under water, posing great difficulties in the rescue operation. Villagers were

struggling to save food grains and clothes as the flood water started entering

their homes.

District

Collector Avinash Panda and Tehsildar Kishor Bagde are supervising the rescue

operation. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel managed to shift

an sick girl from Lahiri village in the flood. She was then admitted to a PHC.

Three

rivers – Pearlkota, Idrawati and Pamulgautami converge in Bharmagad. As all the

three rivers are overflowing people in the region are facing a difficult

situation. The local administration has been put on a high alert. The power

supply and mobile services have also been affected.
