
New Delhi, 25 September (H.S.): Domestic equity markets opened in positive territory on Friday, the final trading day of the week, amid mixed cues from global markets. During early trading, the benchmark Sensex was up around 145 points, while the Nifty was trading about 20 points higher.
After the sharp decline in the stock market on Thursday, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex was trading at 73,728.95, gaining 148.41 points, or 0.20 per cent. Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty was trading at 23,087.40, up 24.30 points, or 0.11 per cent.
Among the 30 Sensex constituents, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation of India, State Bank of India, HCLTech and Bajaj Finance were trading with gains. On the other hand, shares of Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra and NTPC were trading lower.
Meanwhile, the global oil benchmark Brent crude declined 0.99 per cent to $105.5 per barrel. Amid the positive trend in the domestic equity market, the Indian rupee also strengthened by 14 paise against the US dollar in early trading to reach 95.85.
It may be noted that the BSE Sensex had closed 1,247.71 points, or 1.67 per cent, lower at 73,580.54 on Thursday. The NSE Nifty had also declined 383.70 points, or 1.64 per cent, to close at 23,063.10.
