New Delhi, 25 September (H.S.): Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said on Friday that foreign direct investment (FDI) in India reached an all-time high of $94.53 billion in the financial year 2025-26, while cumulative FDI inflows during 2014-26 stood at $843 billion.

Goyal said on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ programme that, alongside FDI, the impact of government reforms aimed at promoting manufacturing in the country is also becoming visible. India recorded a new high in FDI during FY 2025-26. He said the 12th anniversary marked the continuation of a vision based on the simple belief that “India can manufacture for the world.”

He said that as of March 31, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes had resulted in actual investments of Rs. 2.40 lakh crore. During the period, production and sales worth Rs. 23.8 lakh crore were recorded, while exports stood at Rs. 15.2 lakh crore. The schemes have also generated more than 14.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

The Union Minister said sectors such as electronics and telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware and specialty steel had benefited significantly from the PLI schemes. Goyal said these figures present an encouraging picture. He added that they serve as a reminder of what can be achieved when a country has confidence in its own capabilities and the government consistently strengthens that confidence through reforms and concrete measures.

Piyush Goyal said the journey of ‘Make in India’ would continue with even greater ambitions. India has to become a global manufacturing powerhouse, which would also strengthen the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. He said new industrial smart cities are being established across the country under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme to create the infrastructure required for globally competitive manufacturing.
