Guwahati, 25 September (HS): Assam Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Biswajit Daimary on Friday attended the formal inauguration of the week-long Vande Mataram Camp 2026–27 at Dr Banikanta Kakati Auditorium, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.

Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Kamrup Metro, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the camp is being held from September 24 to 30 to commemorate 150 years of Vande Mataram. The programme is being conducted on the theme “Youth, Culture, Constitution and Nation First”.

The camp has brought together youth delegates aged 15 to 29 from Assam, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim, West Bengal and Bihar. The inaugural programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by MY Bharat Assam State Director Dinobondhu Saha.

Addressing the gathering, Daimary underlined the role of youth in strengthening national integration and building a responsible and progressive society. He said bringing together young people from different states would provide an opportunity to understand India's cultural diversity while fostering a shared sense of national identity and constitutional values.

The camp will feature cultural exchanges, traditional dance and music, patriotic activities, constitutional awareness programmes and various youth engagement initiatives.

During the interaction, Daimary also announced his commitment to facilitate a field visit for participating student delegates to Bhutan and his home constituency, Tamulpur. The proposed visit is aimed at providing the students an opportunity to experience the region's cultural heritage and promote greater interaction and cultural understanding among youth from different parts of the country.

Director of Sports Ankur Bharali, ACS, Guwahati Municipal Corporation Councillor Ratna Singh Bharadwaj and other officials and dignitaries were present at the inaugural programme.-----------
