Mumbai, 25 Sept (HS): “Delighted to be present at the launch

of the Wadala Mathadi Housing Project, the distribution ceremony of Gunwant

Kamgar Awards and Bhavya Melava of Mathadi Workers, organised on the occasion

of the 93rd birth anniversary of the visionary founder of the Akhil Bharatiya

Maratha Mahasangh & prominent Mathadi Leader Late Anna Saheb Patil, in Navi

Mumbai today. Heartfelt tribute to Late Annasaheb Patil, whose lifelong service

to the underprivileged and working class strengthened the Mathadi movement and

led to the historic Mathadi Act, bringing dignity, safety and social security

to thousands of workers. The Wadala Mathadi Housing Project launched today will

provide modern homes to around 3000 workers, while the Vashi APMC Market will

be redeveloped to global standards, creating sustainable opportunities for

Mathadi workers. Dedicated schemes for higher education and skill development

through the Annasaheb Patil Arthik Magas Vikas Mahamandal and SARTHI will

further empower workers’ children, with dedicated support from the Maharashtra

Government,” remarked Devendra Fadnavis in a post on X.

On Friday, Maharashtra

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that

action will be taken against individuals abusing the Mathadi law and revealed plans for the redevelopment of the

50-year-old Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market in Navi Mumbai.

In remarks to the media, Fadnavis

stated that discussions would take place with Mathadi leaders to address unlawful activities and highlighted that the Mathadi Workers Act has guaranteed

respect for organized workers. Certain individuals

have exploited the law for personal gain.

“We will act against those individuals following

discussions with Mathadi leaders,” he stated.

He confirmed that the government is optimistic regarding all matters related

to Mathadi workers, such as offering them housing and making several decisions for their benefit, and noted that a project to provide 2,850 houses

to workers is currently in progress. The chief minister stated that offering

housing in regions like Wadala will undoubtedly help our employees.

He mentioned that the government will proceed with the redevelopment of the APMC

market in Navi Mumbai, which has been in existence for nearly 50 years. The chief

minister emphasized that the

government is working to tackle

issues in drought-affected regions, such as lack of drinking water and fodder, and a government resolution (GR) detailing the actions is expected to be released later today.

Drought conditions are intense.

Farmers are not expected to achieve a high yield.

Issues concerning potable water and animal feed have emerged.

We are organizing the required preparations. A GR concerning this matter is set to be released, potentially today,

which will advance the drought mitigation measures,” he

stated.
