Chennai ,24 September (H.S.):The Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) plans to develop residential projects in eight locations across the state under its self-financing scheme. It has opened an online portal to assess what kinds of homes prospective buyers want before finalising the plans.

Housing and Urban Development Minister Rajkumar announced the projects during the Assembly’s 2026–27 demands for grants session, according to a statement issued by the board. The statement said the projects were being taken up under Chief Minister Vijay’s guidance.

The proposed locations are Anna Nagar, Purasawalkam, Nandanam and Ernavur in Chennai district; Gundusalai in Cuddalore district; Ellis Nagar in Madurai district; Thirumazhisai in Tiruvallur district; and Vallankumaravilai in Kanyakumari district.

TNHB said it would use responses from the public to understand demand at each location and plan housing units suited to prospective buyers’ requirements. People interested in a home can visit the board’s official website, tnhb.tn.gov.in, and use a dedicated portal to record their preferred location, type of accommodation and other requirements.

The board stressed that this registration is only a demand assessment. It is not an application for a housing unit and will not give registrants priority when homes are allotted.

Those who complete the registration will, however, receive an SMS on their registered mobile number when the board begins accepting applications for the relevant project. They can then decide whether to apply through the process announced at that stage.

TNHB has asked interested members of the public to submit their preferences through the portal as soon as possible. The statement did not specify the number of units proposed at each site, their prices or a construction timetable. Those details are expected to become clearer after the board assesses the responses and develops the individual project plans.
