Aichi-Nagoya, 24 September (H.S.): Indian squash players Anahat Singh and Tanvi Khanna produced impressive performances to advance to the quarterfinals of the women’s singles event at the Asian Games 2026. Their victories have set up an all-Indian quarterfinal clash.

Third seed Anahat Singh defeated Singapore’s Au Yeong Wai Lin in straight games, winning 11-4, 11-5, 11-7. The World Cup winner dominated from the outset and secured a comfortable passage into the last eight.

Tanvi Khanna, meanwhile, defeated Singapore’s Au Yeong Wai Yan 5-11, 11-4, 11-5, 13-11 to book her place in the quarterfinals. After losing the opening game, Tanvi fought back strongly to win the next three games and seal the match.

The result has set up an all-India quarterfinal in the women’s singles event, with either Anahat or Tanvi guaranteed a place in the semifinals.

The winner of the squash competition at the Asian Games will qualify directly for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Squash will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Games.

Earlier, Indian pair Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar advanced to the mixed doubles quarterfinals. The Indian duo defeated compatriots Suraj Chand and Shameena Riyaz 11-7, 11-10 to register a 2-0 victory.
