Aichi-Nagoya, 24 September (H.S.): Indian rowers Satnam Singh and Salman Khan added another medal to India’s tally at the Asian Games 2026 by winning bronze in the men’s double sculls event. Meanwhile, Balraj Panwar narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s single sculls, finishing fourth.

Satnam and Salman clocked 6:13.25 in Thursday’s final, finishing 3.48 seconds behind China’s Yi Xudi and Nie Yide, who won the gold medal. Uzbekistan’s Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov and Pavel Sorin claimed the silver.

The Indian pair made an impressive start to the race and remained in second place at the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m marks. At one stage, they were just half a second behind the Chinese crew. However, their pace dipped slightly in the final stretch, leaving them to settle for the bronze medal.

Balraj Panwar also remained firmly in medal contention during the men’s single sculls final. He was in second place at the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m marks, but was overtaken in the final 500m by Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama. Balraj eventually finished fourth.

With these results, India’s medal tally at the Asian Games has risen to 14, comprising one gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.
