New Delhi, 24 September (H.S.): The Delhi Police has intensified patrolling and checking operations in several parks and public places across the national capital to strengthen the safety and security of women and other members of the public. During the drive, action was taken against 111 people.

According to the police, continuous deployment in vulnerable locations is being maintained to curb anti-social activities. During intensive checks at various parks in Central Delhi, action was taken against 111 people under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

A security audit of parks across Delhi is being conducted on the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu. As part of the exercise, the Central district police carried out joint foot patrols not only in parks but also in markets, crowded areas and other vulnerable locations.

Personnel from the Central district police, Delhi Traffic Police and the outer force were deployed for the operation. Police teams visited parks, checked people present there and monitored suspicious activities. Surveillance was particularly intensified at public places witnessing heavy movement of women and other members of the public.

The police said the objective of the campaign was not merely to take enforcement action but also to increase police visibility in parks and public places and reduce the possibility of crime. Regular patrolling and checking of parks in vulnerable and isolated locations will continue.

Through joint patrols and checking operations, the police said they are maintaining surveillance over anti-social elements and strengthening security in public spaces.
