Srinagar, 24 September (H.S.): A special convention of National Conference workers and office-bearers was held at the Circuit House, Shopian today presided over by party additional general secretary and Rajya Sabha Member Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan. Provincial President Showkat Ahmed Mir and MLA Zainapora Showkat Hussain Ganie were also present on the occasion.

The convention was organised by senior party leader and former MLA Shopian, Sheikh Mohammad Rafi.

Detailed discussions were held on further strengthening the party at the grassroot level, improving coordination and communication with workers, and addressing various issues and concerns confronting the people of Shopian.

Addressing the gathering, Chowdhary Ramzan described the role of party workers as vital and said that the strength of the National Conference lies in its dedicated and active workers who have stood by the people during every difficult phase.

He urged party workers to maintain close contact with the public, listen to their problems and difficulties, and raise their concerns effectively before the appropriate forums.

He stressed the need to further strengthen and organise the party at the grassroot level, improve coordination between workers and office-bearers and make the party’s public outreach efforts more effective.

Ramzan said the elected National Conference Government has made significant progress in public welfare, development and the provision of basic facilities during the past two years. He said the people of Kashmir were well aware of the record and political positions of the parties opposing the National Conference. He maintained that the government’s foremost priority is to provide relief to the people and that its decisions and initiatives are guided by public welfare.

Addressing the gathering, Showkat Mir said the National Conference would continue its dedicated service to the people and its efforts for development, prosperity and justice while representing the aspirations of the public.

He urged party office-bearers and workers to utilise all their energies towards further strengthening the organisation and maintaining close contact with the people.
