New Delhi, 24 September (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam on X, highlighting the importance of practising discipline in speech to promote peace, harmony and positivity in society.

Sharing the Sanskrit verse, Prime Minister Modi wrote:

“अनुद्वेगकरं वाक्यं सत्यं प्रियहितं च यत्।

स्वाध्यायाभ्यसनं चैव वाङ्मयं तप उच्यते॥”

The verse conveys that one should always speak words that are truthful, pleasant and beneficial, without causing distress or unrest in anyone’s mind. It further emphasises that continuous study and reflection on sacred knowledge elevate speech and make it more meaningful and purposeful.

Prime Minister Modi noted that words spoken with thoughtfulness can foster peace, harmony and positivity in society.
