Mumbai, 24 Sept (HS): On Friday,

Mumbai will see extensive security measures

in place, with over 24,000 police personnel assigned to facilitate the Ganesh immersion processions, according

to officials. Idols of Lord Ganesh will be submerged on Anant Chaturdashi following processions, signifying the end of the festival that

began on September 14. To ensure

secure festivities for the millions of followers anticipated to join the final immersion processions, the Mumbai Police and the Traffic

Department will assign six Joint

Commissioners of Police, nine Additional Commissioners of Police, 38 DCPs, 66

ACPs, 3,213 policemen, 18,940 additional security staff, and 1,050 trainees, an official announcement

stated.

Specialized teams such as the Rapid Action Force (RAF), State Reserve Police Force (SRPF),

Force One, Quick Response Teams (QRT), Law & Order platoons, Riot Control

Squads, Delta and Combat units, Anti-Drone units, and

Home Guards will be deployed at critical

and sensitive sites throughout the city.

At the same time, traffic control strategies have been developed

under the guidance of the Joint

Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

In addition to the current CCTV system,

we are deploying 10,000 cameras at key immersion locations, featuring sophisticated AI cameras equipped with facial-recognition capabilities.

Drones will be employed to observe

crowd density. Joint Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar

Sharma stated that if a specific area becomes too crowded, extra

forces will be deployed as necessary.

Cameras powered by AI will be utilized

at key immersion sites such as Girgaon, Juhu, Bandra, Versova, Powai, and Madh-Marve. The

city police's control room along with five regional control rooms will oversee

the situation, and temporary control rooms have been established at key immersion locations. Mumbai hosts approximately

7,000 domestic Ganpati idols and 9,000

mandals, with 132 prominent

pandals. The municipal officials have set

up facilities at 341 immersion sites,

including both natural and man-made

ponds.

Guaranteeing the safety of women, girls,

and elderly individuals, along with worshippers in busy

public areas, will be the foremost concern of the traffic police during

the immersion ceremonies,” stated Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satya Narayan Chaudhary.

The transit of large vehicles will be limited in Mumbai during Anant Chaturdashi. Parking plans

have been established at the BPT ground

and additional assigned locations.

The Mumbai Police have urged individuals to remain calm in busy areas and collaborate.

Worshippers have been encouraged

to notify law enforcement if they come

across any abandoned or unusual

items, and to call emergency numbers 100 or 112 for prompt help, according

to an official. The thorough security measures

have been organized under the direction of the Commissioner of Police and the oversight of the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), according to the statement.
