Thackeray on Thursday urged the

state government to convene a special legislative session to evaluate the measures implemented in light of the impending drought

crisis. Speaking at

a press conference, he stated that the state government ought to conduct cabinet meetings individually in Western Maharashtra,

particularly in Solapur, one of the most affected areas,

as well as in Vidarbha and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in

Marathwada.

The state government must create a

dashboard that provides district and taluka-specific data

on the financial aid offered to farmers, along with

village-specific details of water tankers dispatched and fodder shelters for

farmers, Thackeray stated, advocating for an entire farm loan waiver.

Accusing the government of spending on “needless” projects,

like the Shaktipeeth Highway and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, he claimed

that “splurging” on these projects was being done only for the benefit of

contractors. Thackeray also sought to know why the government was delaying the

announcement of help to farmers when Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was

himself witnessing their plight. All guardian ministers in the affected areas

must be given the task of overseeing relief operations, he said. Thackeray said

the looming drought will also force people to migrate and the government must

look into this issue.
