New Delhi, 24 September (H.S.): Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Thursday inspected Hindu Rao Hospital to review the medical facilities and arrangements being provided to patients, as well as the progress of various development and upgradation works. Additional Commissioner Pankaj Naresh Aggarwal, Medical Superintendent Dr. Sumanlata Mehandi Ratta, Deputy Commissioner Kanika, and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation and hospital administration were present during the inspection.

During the visit, the Mayor toured the hospital’s OPD block, various wards, paediatric emergency block, ICU and labour room, and reviewed the facilities and arrangements available there. He also interacted directly with admitted and undergoing-treatment patients to enquire about their health, treatment arrangements and the facilities available at the hospital.

The Mayor specifically sought feedback from patients on the availability of medicines and directed officials to ensure that essential medicines are provided to patients on time. He also reviewed the hospital’s sanitation arrangements and instructed officials to further improve cleanliness across the hospital premises and wards.

He directed officials to install LED lights to ensure adequate illumination in the wards and ordered the immediate repair of damaged benches. After inspecting the condition of roads within the hospital premises, he instructed the concerned officials to undertake necessary repairs.

The Mayor also inspected the upgradation work carried out in the labour room and reviewed the modern facilities available there. He took stock of the CTG monitors installed in the labour room and sought an update from officials on the progress of upgradation work in the paediatric emergency block and other wards.

He said Hindu Rao Hospital was being continuously upgraded and modernised to provide Delhi residents with better and more advanced healthcare facilities. He said new medical equipment had been provided and a new block had also been inaugurated at the hospital.

The hospital’s ICU capacity is being increased from eight to 18 beds, with the work currently in progress. The expansion will significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to treat critically ill patients.

The Mayor further said there was a plan to demolish the old and dilapidated residential block and develop a new ward block in its place, with approximately 200 beds. At the same time, work is underway on a plan to relocate the residential block to the site of the old laundry block after its removal.

These measures, he said, would enable better utilisation of the hospital premises and create scope for expanding medical facilities for patients in the future.
