Thiruvananthapuram, 24 September (H.S.): Distribution of September welfare pensions will begin across Kerala today, with the state government allocating Rs 1,068.79 crore for payments, the finance minister said.

Of the total, Rs 957.93 crore has been earmarked for welfare pensions, while Rs 110.86 crore will be used to pay pensions through various welfare fund boards. The allocations cover both channels through which the September payments will be made.

The finance minister said the release of funds was part of the UDF government’s policy of ensuring that pension amounts reach beneficiaries on time each month. Regular distribution remains a priority for the government, the minister said.

The announcement confirms the start of payments today, but does not specify when the distribution will be completed. It also does not state how many beneficiaries are due to receive the September pension.

The larger allocation, of Rs 957.93 crore, will fund the main welfare pension payments. The separate Rs 110.86 crore provision is intended for pensions administered by welfare fund boards. Together, the two amounts bring the September allocation to Rs 1,068.79 crore.

For beneficiaries who rely on the monthly assistance to meet household expenses, the timing of payments is significant. A regular payment schedule allows them to plan spending around the arrival of their pension.
