New Delhi, 24 September (H.S.): The Ministry of Coal has set its sights on scientific e-waste disposal, scrap management and workplace modernisation as part of its efforts to promote clean, sustainable and citizen-centric governance while further strengthening institutional mechanisms.

The ministry said in a statement issued on Thursday that it will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, with a particular focus on the systematic collection, segregation and scientific disposal of e-waste across all its administrative offices and public sector undertakings (PSUs).

As part of the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6.0, Chetna Shukla, DDG, Robin Gangte, DS, and other officials reviewed the record room at Lok Nayak Bhawan here on September 23. The exercise focused on systematically classifying files and identifying old or redundant records for their timely disposal.

The Ministry of Coal, in coordination with its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), the Coal Controller’s Organisation (CCO) and the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation (CMPFO), is also actively identifying locations where cleanliness drives will be undertaken.

The ministry said significant progress had been made by September 24 in identifying targets for Special Campaign 6.0. These include 1,462 locations to be cleaned, 1.21 crore square feet of space to be cleared, 10,713 metric tonnes of scrap to be disposed of, 10,189 physical files to be reviewed and 75,382 e-files to be examined.

The ministry said these figures are expected to increase further as the preparatory phase continues until September 30.

Through Special Campaign 6.0, the Ministry of Coal is committed to improving cleanliness, streamlining record management and enhancing the overall efficiency of governance.
