New Delhi, 24 September (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a free mega health check-up camp at the Ayurvedic Hospital in Haiderpur, in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The Chief Minister said healthy citizens are the foundation of an empowered Delhi and that ensuring the health and well-being of residents remains a priority for the government.

Interacting with residents of the local slum settlements, the Chief Minister also gave a clear assurance regarding their housing concerns, stating that not a single slum in the area would be demolished. She said the government was working to provide better housing to slum residents who had been living in difficult conditions for years.

She said the tendering process for housing construction for residents of the slums in AU Block and AO Block of Haiderpur had already begun in the first phase. Suitable sites are being identified in and around these areas for construction. In the second phase, slum settlements around the Ayurvedic Hospital would be covered, with suitable land being identified nearby so that residents can be provided better housing close to their existing locality.

The Chief Minister said the government’s objective was not to displace people but to improve their quality of life. Referring to various development works being undertaken in the area, she said facilities such as new toilets, water ATMs for clean drinking water, Atal Canteens, new sewer lines, water pipelines and streetlights were being provided to improve living conditions.

She added that old structures and garbage bins were being removed to facilitate road widening, while new toilets and garbage bins were being constructed.

On the expansion of educational facilities in the area, the Chief Minister said Haiderpur had long needed a large school offering education up to Class 12. Children had previously been required to travel to other areas for educational and documentation-related requirements. Around 5,000 square yards of land has been made available for construction of a new school, and the tendering process is being prepared.

Gupta also said a tender had been issued for the construction of a new community centre in the area. Once completed, the facility will be available to local residents for weddings and other social functions.

She further said work was underway to construct a new Chhath Ghat along the canal in the area, which would provide improved facilities to residents during the Chhath festival.

The Chief Minister said the newly established Ayushman Arogya Mandir in Haiderpur was making healthcare services more accessible to local residents. She added that efforts would also be made in the future to develop a ‘Nirog Dham’ in the area, where healthcare facilities based on both Ayurveda and allopathic medicine would be made available.
