Amravati, 24 Sept (HS): Maharashtra Chief

Minister Devendra Fadnavis promised farmers during his trip to the Amravati and Washim districts that the state government will

completely support them due to significant crop loss from inadequate rainfall. Regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada, such as Washim and

Amravati, experienced extended

dry periods and inadequate monsoon

precipitation, significantly impacting Kharif crops such as soybean, cotton, and pigeon pea.

While visiting

the Washim district, farmers demonstrating chanted slogans and called on the authorities to officially recognize the area as

drought-stricken for prompt assistance. Fadnavis mentioned that the government is assessing thorough aid and crop-damage

evaluations, intending to provide formal relief directives.

The government has started actions such as

farm loan forgiveness, assistance

with electricity bills, and

programs for providing fodder to aid impacted farming

communities.

During his visit to the Amravati division, Devendra Fadnavis declared that the state government will release

an order for immediate drought relief for impacted farmers. A dedicated panel led by Revenue Minister

Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been formed with cabinet powers to fast-track

relief execution.

“Due to low rainfall, farmers are facing a

crisis. Today, in Mohagavan in Washim district, I inspected the damage to crops

and interacted with the farmer sisters. I listened to their woes. No matter how

big the crisis, the state government will stand by the farmers, I assured them,”

remarked Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a post on X.
