Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated weightlifter Mirabai Chanu on winning the silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event.

Chanu secured the silver medal on Wednesday, earning India a place on the podium in the competition. Her performance drew praise from the Prime Minister, who highlighted her determination and consistency.

In a message shared by the PM Modi on X on Wednesday, PM Modi said Chanu’s achievements and sustained commitment continued to inspire the country. He also said India was proud of her and conveyed his best wishes for her future endeavours.

The silver adds to Chanu’s distinguished international career and further underlines her standing as one of India’s leading weightlifters.
