Aichi-Nagoya, 23 September (H.S.): Two-time Olympic medallist shooter Manu Bhaker qualified for the women’s 10m air pistol final at the Asian Games on Wednesday. Manu scored 579 points in qualification to finish third and secure her place in the medal round.

The Paris Olympic Games double bronze medallist maintained a consistently strong performance throughout qualification, finishing among the top three to advance to the final.

India’s Esha Singh finished 15th with a score of 572 and missed out on qualification for the final. Suruchi Singh, meanwhile, finished 26th with 568 points.

India’s Shooting Medal Tally

India narrowly missed out on a medal in the women’s 10m air rifle team event after losing to Vietnam in a closely fought contest. Both teams finished with an identical score of 1,719 points, but India was placed fourth on the basis of the inner-10 count.

India have won five shooting medals at the Asian Games so far, comprising four silver and one bronze. However, the Indian shooting contingent is still awaiting its first gold medal at the Games.
