Global markets are giving mixed signals today, with Asian markets also witnessing a mixed trend. U.S. markets closed with mixed results in the previous session, although Dow Jones futures are currently trading higher. European markets likewise ended the previous session on a mixed note, while Asian markets are also seeing mixed trading today.
U.S. markets remained volatile throughout the previous session. After fluctuating considerably during the day, Wall Street’s major indices closed mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.36 per cent to settle at 51,863.69 points. The S&P 500 index also registered a marginal decline of 0.06 points, ending the session at 7,764.64 points. In contrast, the Nasdaq gained 122.18 points, or 0.45 per cent, to close at 27,244.28, supported by gains in Micron Technology and artificial intelligence-related stocks. Dow Jones futures were also trading higher, up 91.54 points, or 0.18 per cent, at 51,955.23.
European markets also remained under pressure during the previous session before closing mixed. The FTSE index fell 0.29 per cent to finish at 10,708.33 points. In contrast, the CAC index gained 0.20 per cent to close at 8,154.91 points. The DAX index edged up 0.02 per cent to settle at 25,578.85 points.
Asian markets are also trading mixed today. Of the nine major Asian markets, five benchmark indices are trading in positive territory, while four are in the red. GIFT Nifty declined 0.04 per cent to 23,389.50 points. Similarly, the Straits Times Index fell 0.11 per cent to 5,720.09 points.
The Hang Seng Index is witnessing a sharp decline today. It was down 192.75 points, or 0.77 per cent, at 24,895 points. The Shanghai Composite Index was also trading lower by 0.36 per cent at 3,938.08 points.
On the other hand, the Nikkei Index was trading 882.70 points, or 1.36 per cent, higher at 65,018.95 points. The Jakarta Composite Index was up 0.67 per cent at 6,319.22 points. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Weighted Index gained 241.51 points, or 0.50 per cent, to reach 48,041.32 points; the KOSPI advanced 0.42 per cent to 7,047.38 points; and the SET Composite Index edged up 0.01 per cent to 1,604.66 points.
