Dhubri (Assam), 22 September (HS): Agomoni police rescued three cattle allegedly being smuggled in an ambulance in Assam’s Dhubri district, officials said.

Acting on suspicion, police intercepted the ambulance near the Ratiadaha Traffic Point late Monday night. The vehicle was reportedly travelling from West Bengal towards Gauripur via Kherbari in Agomoni.

Police said they began following the suspicious ambulance near Kherbari Chaturtha Khand village and managed to stop it near the Ratiadaha Traffic Point. During a search, three cattle were found inside the ambulance instead of a patient.

The police rescued the three cattle and seized the ambulance bearing registration number ML-13A-7086.

Taking advantage of darkness, the ambulance driver reportedly fled from the spot. Police have launched an investigation and initiated a search to trace and apprehend the absconding driver.------------
