New Delhi, 22 September (H.S.): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with several other leaders, extended their greetings to the people of the country on the auspicious occasion of Dol Gyaras, also known as Jal Jhulni Ekadashi, on Tuesday.

In a post on X, Om Birla said, “This festival, associated with the worship of Lord Vishnu, is a beautiful symbol of devotion and spiritual consciousness. In Rajasthan and various other parts of the country, the tradition of Dol Gyaras is observed with great enthusiasm and devotion. On the occasion, devotees place the sacred idol of the deity in a beautifully decorated palanquin and offer prayers accompanied by bhajans, kirtans and devotional hymns.

“The tradition of bathing the idols of Thakurji in sacred rainwater every year, followed by worship, darshan and an elaborate procession, reflects a unique expression of faith. I pray that Shri Hari blesses everyone and brings welfare and prosperity to all.”

Rajnath Singh said that the festival, deeply associated with devotion to Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna, popular faith and India’s rich cultural traditions, should bring happiness, peace and prosperity into the lives of everyone.
