Hooghly, 22 September (H.S.): With Durga Puja just days away, preparations for puja pandals and decorations are in full swing across Hooghly district. On Tuesday, Chandannagar Police Commissioner Sunil Kumar Yadav visited several selected Durga Puja pandals in Serampore to review preparations and assess security arrangements.

The Commissioner visited the Durga Puja pandal of 5th and 6th Palli Byabsayi Samiti in Serampore. In the presence of puja organisers, he inspected the arrangements and discussed various aspects of crowd management, security and other necessary measures for the upcoming festivities.

Several senior police officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection and visited the pandals and adjoining areas.

The puja committee informed that it will not accept the state government’s financial grant this year.

With several popular puja pandals in Serampore expected to draw large crowds, the police administration is focusing on advance security planning, crowd management and maintaining smooth movement of visitors during the festive days.
