New Delhi, 21 September (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Monday paid tribute to Lakshmanrao Inamdar on his birth anniversary, remembering him for his contribution to strengthening society through national service, organisational development and the spirit of cooperation.

In a post on X, Shah wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Lakshmanrao Inamdar, who empowered society through national service, organisation building and cooperation, I pay my respects to him. ‘Vakil Saheb’, who gave a new direction and momentum to the cooperative movement in Gujarat, nurtured and shaped numerous activists like a guardian. From the freedom struggle to the struggles against the atrocities of the Nizam and the Emergency, the life of Lakshmanrao Inamdar remains a source of inspiration for us all.”

Lakshmanrao Inamdar, popularly known as ‘Vakil Saheb’, was born on September 21, 1917. He played a significant role in promoting the cooperative movement and was associated with efforts to develop a dedicated cadre of social workers and activists.
