Nagaon (Assam), 21 September (HS): Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika on Monday claimed that AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal had become politically irrelevant after suffering a massive defeat in minority-dominated areas.

Addressing a programme in Samaguri, Hazarika also alleged that the Congress party was in a weak position and claimed that the condition of senior Congress leader Rakibul Hussain was particularly poor in the Samaguri constituency.

The minister was speaking at an event where more than 2,000 people joined the BJP, according to party leaders.

Meanwhile, a section of minority voters in Dhing reportedly joined the BJP in large numbers. The developments came as BJP candidate Debashish Sharma intensified his campaign in Nagaon ahead of the October 6 bypoll.

The BJP has stepped up its outreach in minority-dominated areas as part of its campaign for the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll.-----------
