GoI team inspected exam centres in Chandauli and Jaunpur

Lucknow, 20 Sept (HS): Under the Ullas-Nav Bharat Literacy Program, a basic literacy

test was successfully conducted in all 75 districts of the state on Sunday.

Approximately 5.10 lakh students aged 15 and above participated in the test

from council schools, prisons, and juvenile homes across the state. The test

assessed students' basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills.

Extensive arrangements were made for the smooth conduct, inspection, and

monitoring of this literacy exam, conducted under the Ullas-Nav Bharat Literacy

Program, which is being implemented in the state. Teams from the Government of

India visited the examination centers in Chandauli and Jaunpur districts and

reviewed the exam administration arrangements.

At the state level, officials from the Directorate of Literacy and Alternative

Education/State Literacy Mission Authority, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow

Headquarters, also visited various districts and inspected examination centers.

Mishra inspected literacy examination centers in Sonbhadra district.

The objective of the Ullas-Nav Bharat Literacy Program is to educate

illiterates aged 15 and above by providing them with basic literacy and

numeracy. The program targets 75 percent participation for women and 25 percent

for men. In the financial year 2026-27, the goal is to educate a total of 1

million illiterates aged 15 and above in the state.
