New Delhi, 20 September (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has revealed his political values before the entire country by laughing at remarks concerning a mother.

In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, Gupta said that political opposition, ideological differences and even sharp criticism are part of politics, but making an indecent remark about someone’s deceased mother and turning it into an occasion for political mockery cannot be accepted by Indian society.

She questioned what kind of political culture is reflected in bringing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother into political discourse and laughing at derogatory remarks about her.

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also criticised the incident in a post on X. He said that mocking mothers publicly and laughing loudly at such remarks demonstrated the values that Sonia Gandhi had instilled in her son.

He further said that, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was promoting Indian culture and respect for motherhood around the world, Rahul Gandhi was allegedly encouraging disrespect towards a mother on a platform attended by young people.
