Hyderabad, 20 September (H.S.): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rain and thunderstorms over Telangana in the coming days, with residents of Hyderabad and other parts of the state likely to experience spells of rain accompanied by lightning.

The latest weather information from the IMD indicates that weather activity will continue across the state, with district-level warnings being issued for different areas.

The weather department has also advised people to remain alert during thunderstorms and lightning and take necessary precautions. The IMD's Hyderabad centre provides district-wise warnings and forecasts covering rainfall intensity, thunderstorms and associated weather conditions.

Telangana has recorded uneven rainfall during the current southwest monsoon. According to the data cited in the source material, the state received 554.2 mm of rainfall against the normal 688.1 mm, reflecting a 19 per cent deficit. Hyderabad received 436.6 mm against its normal rainfall of 568.4 mm.

Several districts have recorded larger rainfall deficits, including Hanumakonda, which received 426 mm against its normal 755.8 mm. Warangal, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Jogulamba Gadwal and Khammam have also recorded deficits of more than 30 per cent.

On Saturday, rainfall was recorded at several locations in Telangana. According to the figures cited in the source material, Nagarkurnool recorded the highest rainfall at 139 mm, while Shaikpet in Hyderabad received 31.5 mm.
