Guwahati, 20 September (HS): A major fire broke out at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) during the night, triggering panic among patients and hospital staff.

According to initial information, an explosion occurred in a monitor at the Medical ITU-2 unit of the hospital, following which the fire broke out. Ten patients were reportedly in the affected area and narrowly escaped the incident.

Hospital staff and emergency personnel acted swiftly to evacuate the patients and bring the situation under control. Further details regarding the cause of the explosion and the extent of damage are awaited.-----------
