
Guwahati, 20 September (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of journalist Payal Mehta in Mumbai. She was 47.
Mehta was associated with the TV18 network and was known among colleagues and media professionals for her warmth, professionalism and dedication to journalism. She maintained cordial relations across the media and public relations fraternity and actively covered official programmes and events.
In a post on X, Sarma recalled his long association with Mehta and described her as a person “full of life” who brought infectious energy to everything she did.
The Chief Minister said that while Mehta was deeply committed to her profession, she also placed great value on her relationships with people.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, Sarma prayed for strength for them to overcome the difficult period.
“Prayers for her sadgati. Om Shanti,” the Chief Minister said.----------
