Mumbai, 20 September (H.S.): Two persons, including an eight-year-old girl, were killed and four others injured in an electrocution incident near a Ganapati pandal in Mumbai's Lalbaug area early Sunday, officials said.

The incident occurred near the Kalachowki Vibhag Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal on Dattaram Lad Marg in Kalachowki at around 2.20 am, when the Lalbaug area was witnessing large crowds amid the ongoing Ganapati festival.

The incident was reported to the Mumbai Fire Brigade at 2.42 am, following which fire brigade personnel, police teams, BEST officials and staff from the civic ward office were mobilised at the spot.

The injured persons were shifted for medical treatment. Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the electrocution and the identities of the deceased and injured were awaited.

Officials said further investigation was underway to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
