Bhubaneswar, 02 September (H.S.): The Special Crime Unit (SCU) of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on the illegal narcotics trade, with the seizure of 305 grams of brown sugar and the arrest of one person in Bhubaneswar.

Acting on a tip-off, the SCU conducted a planned operation on August 31, 2024, in the Bhotapada village area under the Mancheswar Police Station limits.

During the operation, police apprehended a person allegedly involved in the illegal trade of brown sugar. A total of 305 grams of brown sugar, one mobile phone and Rs 520 in cash were recovered from his possession.

One accused has been arrested in connection with the case, and further investigation is underway to establish the source of the contraband and identify other individuals involved in the narcotics supply network.

The Commissionerate Police said its campaign against the illegal drug trade would continue with a focus on disrupting narcotics supply chains and taking strict action against those involved in drug trafficking.

The police reiterated their commitment to strengthening enforcement measures to help create a safer and drug-free society.
