Ludhiana, 02 September (H.S.): A tragic incident took place at a government primary school in Haibowal Khurd, Ludhiana, where head teacher Harjit Grewal, 49, died after suddenly falling ill inside a classroom on Wednesday.According to information, Grewal had arrived at the school in the morning as usual. He attended the morning prayer, taught two classes and later completed his official work. At around 12:40 pm, he was visiting a pre-primary classroom to check on the students and interact with the teacher when he suddenly complained of chest pain.A teacher present in the classroom offered him water. However, while holding the glass, Grewal suddenly collapsed and fell face-first on the floor. Other teachers immediately rushed to his assistance and attempted to revive him by administering CPR.He was first taken to a nearby Mohalla Clinic. An ambulance was subsequently called and he was shifted to DMC Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.According to his colleagues, Grewal was also assigned duties related to SIR and the drug survey in addition to his responsibilities at the school. Teachers said he was highly committed to his official duties and regularly carried out the responsibilities assigned to him.Harjit Grewal is survived by his wife and two children. His wife is a homemaker, while his son looks after farming. His daughter is pursuing her studies in Canada. He also has two elder brothers.The family reached DMC Hospital after receiving news of his death. The sudden demise has left his relatives and colleagues in deep shock and grief.
