Guwahati, 02 September (HS): Assam Pradesh BJP spokesperson Dr. Devajit Mahanta has highlighted the Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana and CM FLIGHT schemes as key initiatives aimed at supporting the state’s youth in employment, competitive examinations and global job opportunities.

The Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana Scheme, implemented by the Department of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship, provides eligible graduates financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month for one year, up to ₹30,000 annually, to help them prepare for competitive examinations and employment opportunities.

Dr. Mahanta said the scheme reflects the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and urged young graduates to utilise the assistance for preparations for examinations such as UPSC and APSC and government jobs.

According to the statement, 48,319 graduates who completed their graduation in 2025 received benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on February 26, 2026. After assuming office for his second term, the Chief Minister relaunched the scheme, with 48,366 graduate youth receiving benefits on August 31. The government has allocated Rs 118.58 crore for the scheme.

Dr. Mahanta also highlighted the Chief Minister’s Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent (CM FLIGHT), which aims to equip Assam’s youth with foreign-language skills and prepare them for international employment opportunities.

He said the initiative followed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s visit to Japan from January 22 to 24, 2025, during which he met Japanese business leaders and ministers to promote investment in Assam. Subsequently, an MoU was signed between the Assam government and Japan-based Asian One Company Limited to provide Japanese-language training and facilitate employment opportunities.

Under the initiative, a Japanese-language training institute has been temporarily established at the North East Skill Centre campus in Guwahati. The government aims to train more than 50,000 youth in Japanese language and skill development over the next three years.

To ensure that financial constraints do not prevent eligible youth from benefiting from the scheme, the government will provide ₹1 lakh per candidate as training assistance to implementing agencies/Foreign Language Training-cum-Implementation Partners. Each candidate will also receive Rs 50,000 as post-placement assistance for initial relocation and resettlement expenses abroad.

Dr. Mahanta said Assam’s skilled youth should take advantage of the CM FLIGHT initiative as the world increasingly becomes a common global workplace. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for introducing initiatives aimed at creating better employment opportunities and preparing Assam’s youth for the future.----------
