Silchar (Assam), 02 September (HS): The State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Silchar Municipal Corporation election, with polling set to be held on October 3, 2026.

According to the schedule, the last date for filing nomination papers is September 11. The electoral contest is expected to take clearer shape after the completion of the nomination process.

The counting of votes will be held on October 6, three days after polling, with the results expected to be declared the same day.

With the election date now announced, political activities in Silchar are likely to intensify. Political parties and prospective candidates have already started preparations, while candidate selection, nomination filing and campaigning are expected to gain momentum in the coming days.------------
