A new update has emerged regarding Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated science-fiction action thriller “Samuk”. Announced a few days ago, the film is currently being shot in the United Kingdom. Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Kanishk Verma, “Samuk” is being touted as India’s first alien thriller. According to reports, Bengali actress Rukmini Maitra is in discussions to play the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar. If the casting is finalised, the project will mark Rukmini’s Bollywood debut and her first on-screen collaboration with Akshay Kumar.
According to reports, discussions are underway to cast Rukmini in an important role in the film. A source associated with the project said that her character is quite intriguing and complements Akshay Kumar’s character well. The makers were looking for an actress who could combine strong acting abilities with an impressive screen presence. Having established herself in Bengali cinema, Rukmini is expected to get an opportunity to make a significant entry into the Hindi film industry with this project.
Co-produced by Aashin A. Shah, “Samuk” is being mounted on a large scale and is targeted for a pan-India theatrical release in 2027. The film will also mark the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Vipul Amrutlal Shah after nearly 13 years. The duo previously worked together in the 2014 film “Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty”. To give the film a Hollywood-level visual treatment, Oscar-nominated creature-effects designer Alec Gillis has also been brought on board. Rukmini’s potential addition to the cast has now further heightened anticipation surrounding the science-fiction project.
