Kolkata, 19 September (H.S.): Scattered rainfall is continuing across Kolkata and several districts of South Bengal, with the Alipore Regional Meteorological Centre forecasting an increase in rainfall activity in parts of the region next week. Heavy rainfall is likely in at least four southern districts, while Kolkata may also receive more rain.

According to the weather office, scattered thunderstorms and rain are likely across almost all districts of South Bengal on Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorms may be accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph. Kolkata is also likely to receive rainfall during this period.

Rainfall activity is expected to decrease somewhat from Monday. However, another spell of heavy rainfall is likely to develop across South Bengal from Wednesday.

The districts of South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Jhargram may experience heavy rainfall from Wednesday, with the spell expected to continue until Friday.

Meanwhile, an orange alert was issued on Saturday morning for Purulia, Bankura and Paschim Bardhaman. The weather department has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in these districts.
