Guwahati, 19 September (HS): A tree plantation and drug de-addiction awareness campaign was organised at LP School, Lalungaon, Lokhra, by ‘E’ Company of the 1st Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sonapur.

The programme was held under the guidance of 1st Battalion SSB Commandant Sunil Kaushik and Second-in-Command and officiating Commandant Kh. Ibouchouba Singh.

Inspector General Milan Biswas, Company Commander of ‘E’ Company, addressed local residents, students and other participants and stressed the importance of environmental conservation. He urged the participants to plant more trees and ensure their proper care and maintenance.

The programme also focused on creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Participants were sensitised to the physical, mental and social consequences of substance abuse and encouraged to stay away from drugs and contribute to building a drug-free society.

As part of the initiative, saplings were planted in and around the school premises. The campaign sought to promote environmental protection while strengthening awareness among students, youth and the local community about the need for a healthy and drug-free society.------------
