New Delhi, 19 September (H.S.): The Central Government has taken a major step towards augmenting government revenues and accelerating the country’s development. At the 21st meeting of the Board of Directors of the National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC), asset monetisation proposals worth more than Rs 5,000 crore were recommended.

The Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Saturday that the NLMC reviewed the progress of its monetisation programme at its 21st Board meeting held on September 18. During the meeting, asset monetisation proposals valued at more than Rs 5,000 crore were approved.

The Ministry said the Board also approved the NLMC’s annual financial statements and Directors’ Report for the financial year 2025-26. The meeting placed emphasis on the expeditious monetisation of assets. The proposals include surplus land and building assets identified for monetisation and represent a significant step towards advancing the government’s objective of unlocking the value of underutilised and surplus assets.

National Land Monetization Corporation Limited is a wholly owned company of the Government of India. It functions under the administrative control of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Finance. NLMC was established to undertake and facilitate the monetisation of surplus land and building assets belonging to Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other government entities.

It may be noted that NLMC works in coordination with asset-owning entities to facilitate the identification, valuation and monetisation of surplus assets through appropriate and transparent mechanisms. Its objective is to unlock the value of public surplus assets and contribute to the government’s broader asset monetisation objectives.
