Mumbai, 19 Sept (HS): The focus should be on the potential

of the Persons with Disabilities (Divyang) and not their disability. The

society has responsibility to offer them equal opportunities, said Governor of

Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma.

The Governor on Saturday was speaking during Lok

Bhavan Seva Prakalp Abhiyan of Varma Foundation and Maitry Peace Foundation at

Y B Chavan Hall in Mumbai. Wheelchairs distribution and National Excellence

Award were distributed on the occasion. Varma said that the mission inspires

people of joining hands for social welfare activities. The mission is not only

serving the society, but also for sensitizing people towards difficulties and

pain felt by the disabled.

A total of 11 people were given wheelchairs and 32

were conferred with National Excellence Arads at the hands of Varma.

Mahamandaleshwar Rajesh Ojha Maharaj, President of

Maitry Foundation Surjit Barua, Secretary Milan Parekh, President of Varma

Foundation Vasumudumuri Varma, P N Swami Maharaj, Governor’s Secretary Dr

Prashant Narnavre, Padmashri Awardee Soma Ghosh, Social Worker Navin Chandra,

Rahul Patil and others were present.
